Extended Staycation? Check!

Work and learn remotely at these be-creative-anywhere locales.

Today, time is too precious for should haves. As such, we’ve created an Extended Stay program inspired by a work-and-learn-from-anywhere motto. Why not move the remote office or virtual learning for a gorgeous change of scene? Afterall, creativity is sparked by new perspectives.

The Club now offers Members the opportunity to use Plan Days for extended stays of 21 consecutive nights or longer in select destinations at select times. Extended stays are the ideal opportunity to enjoy a longer vacation and safe sanctuary (be forewarned: you may just want to move to one of these destinations full-time). For a list of all available Extended Stay residences and availability, visit The Source. Here are some of our favorites for fall and spring:

Beaver Creek, Colorado

Why: Beaver Creek is a Colorado gem for the alpinist at heart. Neighbor to the more crowded Vail, a spontaneous stay at Beaver Creek promises a slower pace, rooms-with-a-view, and peak perspectives. Visit during fall or spring and the change in season means fewer visitors, space to play, and plenty of wildlife for the little ones to brag about to their online classroom.

Not to Miss: If tee time is a priority, Members can play the private Red Sky Ranch course — and Exclusive Resorts’ Beaver Creek homes are built on the Beaver Creek Golf Club course, one of the finest in the country.

Sip & Savor: Now helmed by new Executive Chef-owner Brian Ackerman, Splendido at The Chateau is a Beaver Creek mainstay. Interior design brings the outdoors in, while Ackerman’s seasonal cuisine is sourced from Colorado’s top purveyors.

Family Favorite: Turn scenes from the film A River Runs Through It into reality with a family fly-fishing adventure. Expert local guides offer outings for fishers of all levels to get out on the water and hook ‘em. It’s a locals’ secret that winter fishing can reap rewards, too, but if that sounds too chilly, gear up for an offseason hike or snowshoe through gorgeous Colorado trails.

Lake Tahoe, California
Lake Tahoe, California

Lake Tahoe, California

Why: Mountains and water? Yes, please! Lake Tahoe offers the quintessential western escape, so while in between Zoom meetings or on a class break, walk along its famous shores for some serious reflection.

Not to Miss: Climb the Tahoe Via Ferrata and claim Cali bragging rights. One of the area’s newest adventures, it combines climbing and hiking. What’s more, you’ll ascend an 800-foot vertical cliff without any specialized climbing skills needed.

Sip & Savor: Located in South Tahoe, Evans Gourmet Café is housed inside a quaint Tahoe cabin and serves decadent alpine-inspired cuisine, like the rosemary and garlic marinated rack of lamb.

Family Favorite: Visit Vikingsholm. Built as a summer home in 1929, this grand castle in Emerald Bay State Park is considered one of the finest examples of Scandinavian architecture and offers plenty of family fun.

Scottsdale, Arizona

Why: Because sometimes the desert offers the perfect frame of mind. Enchanting vistas, ideal temperatures, desert wildlife, scenic state parks, and hiking trails make this a top fall and spring escape.

Not to Miss: A hike around Pinnacle Peak Park is easy to access and frames indelible views of the city. Well-marked trails hug giant saguaro cacti, considered a symbol of the American Southwest.

Sip & Savor: Maple and Ash is a newcomer to the sizzling Scottsdale dining scene. Led by superstar chef Danny Grant, expect savory seafood towers and an out-of-this-world tasting menu.

Family Favorite: Even if not a die-hard mountain biker, take a spin on some of the single-track near Scottsdale. With trails for beginners to experts, a two-wheeled break from work or school can be the ideal reboot.

Real del Mar, Mexico

Why: Put simply, this was voted the Club’s 2018 and 2019 Destination of the Year for good reason. So whether new to the Club, or a seasoned Member returning to your all-time favorite destination, an extended stay at Real Del Mar ensures a happy return.

Not to Miss: Charter a boat and navigate around the Marieta Islands. Exploring Banderas Bay is one of the most exciting ways to take in the sights and sounds of Real Del Mar.

Sip & Savor: There’s no need to leave your residence to taste the region’s top flavors. Book a private chef dinner, or take Real Del Mar’s guacamole-making class. Also a Member-favorite, opt for the top-shelf in-residence tequila tasting.

Family Favorite: Don’t miss the local fish market held weekly at the neighboring fishing village of La Cruz de Huanacaxtle. Also on your family hit list? An ATV tour with Vista Paraiso or zip lining through jungle treetops.

Peninsula Papagayo, Costa Rica

Why: What kiddo wouldn’t want to watch howler monkeys swing from the trees while remote learning? Costa Rica’s pura vida is found among life’s simpler treasures. Plus, Costa Rica is allowing Americans to re-enter the country on November 1st.

Not to Miss: It requires a day excursion, but a trek to the Rio Celeste waterfall in Tenorio Volcano National Park offers one of the most can’t-look-away views in the country.

Sip & Savor: We may be biased, but the Members-only Poro Poro Beach Club remains a favorite for Member-inspired cocktails and incredible ceviche by Chef Nicolas Devenelle.

Family Favorite: If traveling with older children, a deep sea fishing adventure is always exciting, while younger kiddos (and adults) will hoot and holler during one of the area’s amazing zip line tours.
