As a Vacation Ambassador in Member Services, Michelle Bokone’s role is to care for and work with her Members to create and plan their Exclusive Resorts vacations—or as she puts it, “I help Members travel happily with the Club.” Michelle has also served as Trip Lead for many Once-in-a-Lifetime Journeys including the 2015 Seabourn Mediterranean Cruise and 2019 South Africa Journey, and was Trip Lead for Greece in 2017 as part of the European Villas program.

Michelle’s role extends beyond just working with her Members—as part of the Training Team, she assists with training and development for the Member Services team and all new employees who join Exclusive Resorts. “Michelle is always helping us improve as a company through her work on the Training Team. She is kind, empathetic, and thorough with her Members and always has their best interests at heart. She is a bright light on our team and always finds the silver lining!” says her colleague, Haley Shields.

During her nearly eight years of service with the Club, Michelle has won many accolades, including Membership Account Manager of the Quarter in 2018, InnovatER Award in August 2019, and was the recipient for the prestigious Platinum Designation in March of 2019. The Platinum Designation is reserved for those who deliver a truly superior level of personalized service, knowing what makes Members happy and then going above and beyond to do something special for them.

Going the extra mile for her Members and fellow employees is simply a part of who Michelle is. When she learned a Member she had worked with for six years unexpectedly needed a heart transplant, she bought a heart-shaped cookie jar and customized it with his family name. The entire Exclusive Resorts team was so inspired by her actions that every employee filled it with notes of encouragement written on paper hearts. “I really wanted him and his family to know we were thinking of him,” Michelle says.

“I have only worked with Michelle for a short period of time, but I truly feel she is the best of the best when it comes to Ambassadors—she is who I strive to emulate in my own career. She is calm, cool, and collected always, she makes herself available to help her coworkers no matter how busy she may be, and she treats her Members like they are part of her family,” says Membership Account Manager, Holly Rotter. “She is extremely knowledgeable, kind, hard-working, and thoughtful. In fact, her only downfall might be her love for the Florida Gators! I am so grateful to be on her team and have the opportunity to work closely with her and hope to do so for many years to come!”

We’re proud to have Michelle as part of our Exclusive Resorts family and to spotlight her this month. Learn more about Michelle and her favorite travel memories below.

How long have you been with Exclusive Resorts?

Seven and a half wonderful years!

What do you love most about working at Exclusive Resorts?

I love the people—our Members and our Exclusive Resorts team—and I love the continuous learning about new places and cultures, as well as professional development on our training team.

Do you have any favorite stories about your time here?

I’ve had so many opportunities for great adventures over the years with Exclusive Resorts! One that will always stand out to me is shark cage diving when I was the Trip Lead for our Once-in-a-Lifetime Journey to South Africa. For one brief and exciting moment, a bronze whaler shark actually got into the cage with us. Whew! That was a thrill!

What is your favorite place to travel, and why?

It’s so hard to pick a favorite! Africa and Greece were both dreams come true, and Costa Rica and Real del Mar also top the list! My husband and I are always drawn back to Riviera Maya in Mexico for the clear water, powdered-sugar sand, and the warmth of the people.

What kind of vacation person are you?

Since I live in the mountains, I love to vacation by the ocean—and if that includes exploring a new place and enjoying some spa relaxation mixed in, all the better!

What’s one thing you always have in your travel bag?

A good book. It’s a must for passing time in airports or relaxing on the beach!

What’s on your travel bucket list?

It’s a long list, and I keep adding to it! Next year I have plans for Peru, and I hope to visit Morocco soon.

We have had nothing but the best experience with the Club and just love our Vaction Ambassador, Michelle Bokone. She is a gem!
