Anguilla: Working Hard to Be Ready For You

After the devastation of several hurricanes in the Caribbean last fall, the region's islands have been in full-on recovery mode, none more so than Anguilla. Known for its brilliant white sand beaches and seemingly endless list of high-end restaurants, Anguilla is an island almost entirely dependent upon its visitors. During the last six months, the island’s residents have been working hard to be tourist-ready as soon as possible. To date, they’ve reopened over 70 eateries, with many more soon to follow. Several resorts are also open now. Four Seasons Anguilla - where ER has four four-bedroom villas - will be fully operational as of March 23, 2018. Air and ferry service has been restored. For more information on getting there, please log in to The Source and visit the Anguilla destination page. The island has also been diligent in communicating their progress during reconstruction – to track their efforts, go to https://irma.ivisitanguilla.com/.

For details about the state of the Four Seasons resort and our four residences there, I sat down with ER’s Senior Vice President, Real Estate, Sara Whitford.

What were the biggest issues the resort dealt with in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma? Where was most of the damage?
The water and HVAC infrastructure were most impacted. Of course, with storms of this magnitude, there was some damage to windows and other exteriors around the resort, but our homes were largely unaffected. The resort has been focusing on a full-scale restoration of public spaces and landscaping to pre-hurricane conditions. Everything looks great in anticipation of next week’s reopening.

What can Members expect upon returning to the resort starting May 2018?

When you step foot on the grounds of the resort, you’ll find all outlets open, from the spa to restaurants to activities. Plenty of attentive staff will be available to address your every need, as you’ve come to expect. Basically, it will be business as usual, even as recovery efforts continue around the island.
We’ve added another home on the third row of villas overlooking Barnes Bay, bringing ER’s count to four, so that more Members can visit Anguilla. What else can Members look forward to in regard to these residences?
We’ve arranged to provide a golf cart for each of these homes, making your movement around the resort easier! We’re also happy to be able to open these for the whole two year calendar, meaning that you can book dates as they roll in and enter Cancellation Wish Lists for dates you’re interested in.
How will the Club be releasing these residences for booking?

The residences are available for travel beginning Saturday, May 5, 2018. To book any dates between May 5 and June 3, 2018, log in to The Source on Wednesday, March 21 at 9:00 a.m. MDT and book directly on the calendar. For dates after June 3, we will hold a RAS (Residence Allocation System, or lottery), which will run Wednesday, March 21 at 9:00 a.m. MDT to Tuesday, March 27 at 5:00 p.m. MDT. In that release, you may request up to five Sunday-to-Sunday weeks from June 3, 2018 going forward.

However, please note that the Four Seasons has a seasonal closure annually (typically this is a 60-day period spanning August, September, and October). This year, those dates will be August 27 to October 18, 2018. Since the resort has not yet announced the actual closure dates for 2019, we will not take any requests for August, September, or October 2019 in this release. You will be able to enter Cancellation Wish List requests for these dates after the lottery. Once we know the official 2019 closure dates, we will release the surrounding available dates to the Cancellation Wish List. Contact your Ambassador for assistance.
